There’s simply no way around it - buying a house can be a stressful and frustrating time in the best circumstances. When you add in the prospect of relocating on top of buying your next home it can be downright scary. With the right partner, however, it doesn’t need to be!
There are many reasons why so many people are choosing Minnesota to be their next home, and surprisingly enough it’s not because we can see some downright frigid temps in the winter! With things like a lower cost of living, being known as a “climate change refuge”, strong economy and being home to some of the best nature and friendliest residents you’ll find it’s pretty easy to see why our great state has become the relocation destination of the country!
If you’re one of the many amazing future residents that is considering making the move to our state but don’t know where to start then you’ve come to the right place! At Lakes & Avenues Realty we’ve become the go-to expert partner for all things relocation, and over the years and countless people we’ve helped we’ve developed a tried and trusted method designed to help future residents just like you to not only avoid the stress of moving, but to have fun doing it. Here are a few tips to help you get started on your journey.
Talk with a local expert
Chances are you have already done your research using the internet to find general information about your next potential home. Perhaps you’ve looked into things like the job market, climate, and even some homes on Zillow. These are all great starting points, but there’s nothing quite like talking with a local expert - that’s where we come in! We’ll take those insights you’ve already found and expand on them to help better illustrate what our area has to offer and help you decide if it is the right fit for you or not. Regardless of what factors are important to you we can help guide you along your journey - whether that’s specific types of housing and budgets, different neighborhood characteristics (and their pros and cons), or even what the local food scene is like - we’ve got you covered.
Visit the area
While this may not be an option for everyone, it is highly recommended that you set some time aside to visit the area to get a feel for it before committing. Pictures, videos and social media can certainly give you a general idea of what an area might be like, but there is no substitute for seeing it in person. We can certainly guide you and give you unbiased feedback and answers, but only you can know for sure if an area feels like the correct match to you. Like we said, we know that this isn’t feasible for every situation, but if you can visit first we highly recommend doing so. If and when you decide that you do want to check it out in person we will work with you to provide you plenty of tips, tricks and suggestions on how to make your visit not only productive, but also enjoyable. But what if you aren’t able to visit in person? At Lakes & Avenues Realty we can help with that, too.
Communication is key
Any real estate journey, whether buying, selling or renting, involves a TON of moving parts. They also require a lot of partnership and trust. I mean, we’re talking a massive decision that should never be taken lightly, right? That’s exactly why open and constant communication is key to your success, and can be one factor that can make or break your real estate partnership. Much like the other things talked about here, when you are looking at making a relocation move that communication is even more important! The majority of the time during the moving process you may find that you aren’t in the area that you’re moving to - that’s why you need a trusted partner like Lakes & Avenues Realty that prioritizes your needs and gives communication the respect that it should have! Whatever your preferred communication method is, we will have routine check-ins, free flowing and open communication from start to finish as we work to get you into your new home.
Strategy, strategy, strategy
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned over the years as we’ve helped countless people move to the area it’s that having a buttoned-up strategy in place is a key to success. That may sound simple, but there are many layers and aspects that go into specializing in something as nuanced as relocations. We’ve developed a tried and trusted approach to handling and managing moves like this that begin with partnering with you to figure out what’s important to you, all the way to the special way that we handle things like touring homes, inspections and closing. Through every step of the way you’ll be kept updated and in the loop, and we’ll be your trusted friend from the beginning to end. Can the average agent get the job done? Sure, but don’t you deserve the care and expertise that comes from helping many satisfied people in your same spot?
